I’m not a resolution girl. Well, just not necessarily a “New Year’s” resolution girl. The date seems arbitrary to me. But I love a fresh start as much as anyone. Fresh starts can come at anytime. My ideas of a resolution are usually on the small-ish side. (But can feel gigantic.) I recently heard the quote that a mom is only as happy as her unhappiest child. SO true.
I have four children. That means at any given time there’s pretty much a 98% chance that one of my kids feels slighted about something or is generally out of sorts. It’s always something for someone. That’s normal, right? I really struggle not to soak up those negative emotions and let them turn my day sour, no matter how good I may have been feeling.
My idea of starting over rarely has to do with exercise or diet or typical resolution-y things, but usually has more to do with attitude. Staying positive and not allowing kids to pull me down the pooper with them is pretty much the goal of mom-dom for me right now. I am a Christian and like to think of myself as a pretty forgiving person but perhaps less so when it comes to cutting myself some slack. The self love/forgiveness message in this book really speaks to me. We’re all doing the best we can. Each day is a new beginning. Take that new beginning and do the best we can with it. We are human and totally imperfect and that’s okay.
