Choose a template for a party hat….
Six hand drawn hat templates are yours to print and color. Each hat template prints on a single piece of 8.5 x 11 paper. While you can certainly print on standard weight copy paper I recommend printing these on card stock. The extra weight and sturdiness of the card stock will make it easier to roll the hat templates into a cone/hat shape and they’ll hold up to more wear and play!

Adding color to your printable party hat….
Once your party hat template is printed its time to add color. I highly recommend doing this before cutting the shape out. It’s much easier to allow strokes to go on and off the edges and cut the scraps off than it is to color off and on a cut edge.
Washable markers or crayons are easy choices for adding color to your printable hat template. Also, consider watercolor paints, tissue paper painting, or even finger paint. Just get some color on there.
Assembling your printable party hat….
Once your hat template is colored and dry it’s time to cut it out. Cut on the outside lines. Kids can do this part themselves. If it’s not just right it won’t be a deal breaker.
On the left side of each party hat template there is a single line. This is the slit that the “tab” on the opposite side will slide into. This line will need to be cut with a craft blade with adult help.
Curl the hat template into a cone shape Slide the tab into the slit and wiggle until it is secure. Add a piece of tape to the inside of the hat template if necessary.
Punch two holes on opposite sides of the hat near the bottom. String a piece of thin elastic or yarn to loop under your child’s chin to keep the hat on their head!
