These pumpkin pop up cards are a fun and creative way to celebrate the Halloween season!
Supplies to make a pumpkin pop up card…..
- card stock in a variety of colors
- glue stick
- pencil
- scissors
Begin making your Halloween pop up card….
Cut a piece of 8.5 x 11 card stock in half. Each card will require two halves, in different colors. Fold each piece of card stock in half. One half will be the “card,” while the other will be the “pop up” portion! For this demo the pop up portion will be the orange paper.
With the orange paper still folded in half use a pencil to draw half of a pumpkin shape and stem. Add a small rectangular tab on the edge of the pumpkin furthest from the fold. Cut this shape out.
Drawing your jack o’lantern face….
Keep the pumpkin shape folded while drawing jack o’lantern features. The mouth and the nose are simple- pencil lines begin on the fold as do the scissor lines.
Draw one eye. With paper still folded use a sharp tool such as an X-acto blade to punch a small hole in the middle of the eye shape. (An adult may need to help with this step!) Then use scissors to cut through both layers of paper at one time.
Making your jack o’lantern face pop….
Fold each of the rectangular tabs to the back. Keep the fold lines parallel the center fold of the pumpkin.
Apply a swipe of glue stick to the back of each tab. Fold the jack o’lantern face in half, with tabs folded to the back as well.
Sandwich the center fold of the pumpkin into the center fold of the card. Close the card and apply some pressure to help the glued tabs stick to the card.
