A bad rap….

Technology gets an unnecessarily bad rap sometimes.  It most definitely does it have it’s dangers.  And those dangers are magnified one thousand times over for our youth who are born into this age of technology.  (Check out this post to see what we use to keep our family safe while online. )  My generation had the gift of an adolescence blissfully unaware of what was happening out of my tiny circle.

But, there are some positives that come along with this age of information, for sure.  We’re homeschoolers.  My kids can learn literally anything they can think of online.  Need an expert opinion?  Give me ten minutes.

My kids pick up on technology related tasks exponentially faster than I do.  It’s in their blood.  They were born knowing it.

Technology is not  going away…

All this amazing technology is not leaving anytime soon.  You can shield your kids from; which we do to a point.  But we also want to expose them to it in a healthy way and make them conscious consumers.

Thinking about how and why social media and other technology fits into our life can be a good start to self monitoring.

The printables…

These printables all focus on technology and social media and how those things fit into the lives of our kids.   They are meant to be a little thought provoking and mostly fun.

Sketchbook ideas to go….

I love having sketchbook ideas at the ready when I’m teaching.  It doesn’t matter the project there will always be kids that finish it in 15 minutes and kids that would work for three hours if they could.  Sketchbook starters like this help to fill those gaps without kids getting too far off task.
