Materials to make your own paper heart wreath….
The supply list for this paper heart craft is super duper small. That’s one of my favorite things about paper crafts- you always that you need already on hand!
- paper- lightweight copy paper is easiest to fold and cut
- scissors
- pencil
- compass or a variety of round lids/bowls to trace
Beginning to make your heart wreath….
Each circle of hearts is cut from a circle of paper. I love the look of overlapping circles of hearts of different sizes and colors. These are pretty quick from start to finish so I recommend making a few and combining them!
I suggest cutting a variety of sizes of circles out of different colors of paper. Lightweight paper will be the easies to fold and cut.
Fold the circles….
To create a paper heart wreath you’ll need to fold the circle of paper in half, in half again, and in half again. It will be folded into eighths and shaped like a piece of pie.
Cut off the inner in point with a rounded cut creating a donut or wreath shape. Leave paper folded for the next step.
Draw your heart shapes….
I suggest using a pencil for this step. I used a black marker for demo purposes so you could easily see the desired shape.
Starting on a folded edge draw half of a heart. Make sure the heart shape reaches from the bottom of the paper to the top.
On the other fold draw another half of a heart shape, a mirror image. Be sure the two heart halves connect in the middle. I’ve found that the heart shapes are more recognizable as hearts when the paper connecting the shapes is on the smaller side. Play around with this- it will make each paper heart wreath a little different!
Cut your heart shapes…
Keeping paper folded use scissors to cut through all the layers of paper. Cut away the space around the hearts. Consider cutting away another smaller heart inside to make your paper heart wreath extra detailed.
Display your paper heart wreath….
I love these lacy cut paper heart wreaths whether there’s a single circle or a whole stack. A variety of sizes and colors layered on a solid background is such a pretty look – perfect for Valentine’s Day and beyond!
