This Mother's Day card printable for kids prints on standard size paper, folds up into a tiny square, and has prompts for writing & drawing sweet memories!

This Mother’s Day card printable will literally “pop” open with a surprise for Mom or Grandma.   This “explosion” type printable Mother’s Day card starts as a flat printable template with room to color and write and then folds up into a deceivingly simple little square!

Materials for this free printable Mother’s Day card….

Once you’ve printed this other’s Day card out (directions on that below)  the rest of the supply list is pretty basic.  Washable markers are an easy way to add a splash of color- write and draw with them.  If your kiddo is younger- grab a box of crayons.  It’s that simple.

You’ll also want to a pair of scissors for cutting the card out.  If your artist is really little, save them the frustration of cutting out the intricate shape of this printable Mother’s Day card and have it cut and ready for them!

Where to cut your Mother’s Day card…

This Mother’s Day card can be printed on standard 8.5 x 11 copy paper.  Cut all the way around the outline of the card.  Then you’ll notice each heart “flap” has one side that is a dotted line.  In order for the card to fold up correctly you’ll need to cut one the dotted line until you reach the square center of the card.  If you keep cutting you’ll cut off one of the four flaps if the card and that’s no good!

While it’s totally up to you it may be easier for your little person to color and draw on the card before it’s cut out. That means no wrinkly edges, etc.

Add some personality to your DIY Mother’s Day card….

My favorite thing about this printable Mother’s Day card is it requires more than just a name signed.  Adding a few simple prompts that ask your kiddo simple questions mean their precious, sometimes silly, answers make the card a keepsake. Little drawings, handwritten words in little kid writing- that stuff doesn’t last forever.  (Trust me- those sweet little writings get further and further in between when little kids turn into big kids!)

Encourage your kids to add color, words, or even use small photos to fill the heart spaces.  Then the hearts fold in, and all four “flaps” fold in.  This full size card folds up to the deceivingly small square shape that is the base.
